Saturday, November 28th 2020 is Small Business Saturday – it serves as our reminder to make local a priority, ESPECIALLY in a year of Covid!
No this day is not always about Big Sales (there are a few yes) but its more about celebrating community and what small businesses bring that we can all enjoy. This year we Challenge you to be part of the difference to our small business community that has been disrupted by Covid-19. Shop Local, Dine in or order take out but please do so safely. Make it a safe outing for you, for our shops, and others. We Can Do This Together!

>> On November 17, 2020 the Beatrice Board of Health passed a motion to adopt a mask mandate for all indoor public facilities within the city limits of Beatrice; that patrons at bars and restaurants be required to be seated and limited to parties of eight (8) or less, with no bar seating and no gaming allowed, and that while actively eating and drinking, no mask be required. Said mandate be effective immediately until December 15, 2020.
Each of us play an important part of slowing the spread of COVID-19. Together, we can keep our hospitals from being overrun, keep our kids in school as long as possible, and keep our city open for business.

This year has not gone as planned, but it doesn’t mean we can’t recognize those individuals and businesses who have stood beside us even though Covid-19 took away our fall Magic of Main Street event. We thank our community for its strong support!! Please support Local as they are the ones who support community causes in our time of need.
Night of the Great Pumpkin Announcement: Main Street Beatrice has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Night of the Great Pumpkin trick or treat celebration downtown due to current health guidance and local recommendations. Alternative activities are currently being considered, including family movie nights with Beatrice Movies, as well as a “Guess the Weight of the Great Pumpkin” contest and a coloring contest with local elementary schools. Watch for updates on Facebook, at www.mainstreetbeatrice.org, or by calling Main Street Beatrice at 402-223-3244.
The trick or treat portion of the event typically draws over 3,000 people downtown (kids and adults), mostly concentrated in a 3-4 block area. With the growing potential to negatively affect our schools, businesses, and families in mind, if an outbreak and subsequent quarantine were to occur, we could not in good faith continue with this event.
There is no doubt that our organization and downtown merchants feel strongly about giving back to the community and will continue to do so in the future. This year has been a struggle with no easy choices.
